Small Actions. Big Impact.

Together we make ordinary actions extraordinary.

GreaterGood began in 1999 with the goal to affect positive change by empowering millions to benefit worthy causes through simple, online actions. GreaterGood has proudly raised more than $80 million and counting in donations to charities. GreaterGood is proud to be a registered fundraiser for Greater Good Charities.

Each of GreaterGood's cause sites focuses on a critical issue affecting people, pets, or the planet. Visitors can choose to take a variety of actions to support these causes, including a free, fast 'click', shopping, and making a direct contribution through the Gifts That Give More™ program. Each of these actions helps raise funds for important causes.

The programs and projects supported by these combined efforts address a wide range of vital needs including disaster and crisis relief; food, housing and care for people and animals; providing mammograms and related support to women; supporting research in the areas of autism, Alzheimer’s, diabetes, and breast cancer; preserving and reforesting threatened habitats; and providing scholarships, books and educational materials and opportunities to children.

Our mission to connect people with opportunities for positive change extends to our product sourcing. GreaterGood has made over $52.7 million in artisan purchases to help support artisans in their communities. GreaterGood empowers artisan-entrepreneur suppliers at home and around the world to reduce intergenerational poverty. Providing capital to and making direct purchases from artisans and entrepreneurs in developing economies has proven to be one of the most successful strategies for long-term reduction in intergenerational poverty, which builds more inclusive economies for all. This commitment means you can Shop Where It Matters for gifts, clothing, home goods, jewelry and more -- with confidence.

About Our Founders

Long-time activists, Tim Kunin and Greg Hesterberg met at the University of Michigan while working on the Michigan Bottle Bill ballot campaign in 1976. As enthusiastic supporters of GreaterGood's first site, The Hunger Site, they realized the power of connecting online donors and activists with efficient and effective ways to make a difference. They pursued this passion by creating CharityUSA.com and later acquiring GreaterGood, merging the strengths of the two organizations in order to increase capacity and impact.

Tim Kunin, CEO and co-founder, travels extensively throughout the year to visit GreaterGood's charity partners and to scout fair-trade opportunities and other ways to create change. He has witnessed first-hand how providing a market for products made by rural women artisans is the best method of reducing inter-generational poverty. Travels have taken Tim to Canada, Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, Columbia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Sweden, England, France, Spain, Germany, Italy, Morocco, Mali, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Ethiopia, Uganda, Kenya, Rwanda, Mozambique, South Africa, Israel, India, and Afghanistan, among others. Tim's travels have helped bring unique products from around the world and make them available to you in the GreaterGood stores.

Greg Hesterberg, President and co-founder was chairman of two statewide consumer and environmental organizations (MaryPIRG and PIRGIM) while in college. After 20 years running a successful publishing firm, Greg delights in finding innovative ways to make the world a better place and currently serves on the board of Greater Good Charities.
