John and Judy Craig co-founded Eliminate Poverty Now when John began his “second career” in promoting economic development in the developing world after retiring from his first career in marketing and general management for Kraft Foods and Warner-Lambert. These days, he lectures on the topic of leadership in business under the broad theme of “How nice guys and nice organizations can finish first.”
John’s wife, Judy, has an extensive backgroun in volunteering for Jewish and community organizations, with a particular passion for programs that help poor women achieve greater earnings potential.
Recognizing that a particular barrier to secondary education for many African girls was a lack of feminine hygiene products, they began the program Pads For Peace to help girls stay in school after puberty. Today Pads for Peace helps keep young women from dropping out of school by providing them with reusable sanitary pads and kits that include underpants and washing supplies.
